HiD 2021 agenda incorporates a multispecialty approach for improved patient care
August 10, 2021, NEW YORK — Following a successful virtual meeting in 2020, the Heart in Diabetes Conference is looking forward to hosting an in-person meeting in New York City from September 10 – 12, 2021 which will incorporate live online elements for virtual attendees across the globe.
“After a year and a half of virtual programs, we are excited to have an in-person meeting in New York City. Our unique conference successfully brings together the best and brightest medical experts in their fields and provides an environment where engaging discussions are encouraged,” reflected Dr. Yehuda Handelsman, Medical Director and Principal Investigator of The Metabolic Institute of America and Chair and Program Director of the conference. “We are advancing state-of-the-art clinical science to ultimately improve patient care.”
The 5th Annual Heart in Diabetes (HiD) Conference will take at the Sheraton Times Square Hotel. The meeting provides a platform that strengthens communication and cooperation among diverse specialties, specifically cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, internal medicine, and primary care.
Key sessions will cover diabetes, cardiometabolic conditions, and COVID-19; the contemporary approach to ASCVD and diabetes; recent diabetes publications in cardiology; diabetes and CVD in women and diverse populations; the impact of obesity on diabetes, the kidney, and the heart; dyslipidemia; cardiovascular outcomes trials; guidelines update; advanced technology’s role and sleep apnea’s impact on metabolism; and the interaction of heart failure and CKD.
Each session will promote lively discussion through panels and debates with robust opportunities for the audience to interact with faculty. The meeting will feature abstracts with the newest research which will be published in the American Heart Journal.
The 2021 Luminary in Cardiometabolic Medicine Award will be presented to Robert Eckel, MD, who will give a keynote lecture on September 11, 2021, entitled “Lipids, Obesity, Metabolic Syndrome, Diabetes and the Heart—My Professional Journey.”
